The mission of DDSP is to work sustainable toward a society in which disabled people have equal opportunities. DDSP’s projects focus on three goals:
to help disabled people access services (eg: health, rehabilitation and socio-economic services) to enable them to improve their lives.
to raise awareness about disability issues in the community to create a more inclusive environment for disabled people.
to help other service-providers (both governmental and non-governmental) to include disabled people in their activities through collaboration and training.
DDSP focuses on the most vulnerable disabled people, including disabled women, disabled children and those with severe, multiple disabilities.
One of its four major projects, Mith Komar Pikar, focuses on access to education for children. Since it launched, DDSP has developed a reputation both in Pursat and in Cambodia as an innovative community-based organization responding effectively to the needs of disabled people with a strong focus on children who have disabilities. For example, DDSP’s Special Class for children with learning difficulties in Prey Nhi Primary school is the only such class in Pursat and one of the few in the country.
GEcsn in 2009 has funded projects to help promote and improve education for disabled students.
