GEcsn's Next Step (2010-2012)

1. Disabled children.

There is still an important need for institutions that care for mentally and physically disabled children in Cambodia, because if nothing is done many of these kids will end up on the streets. GEcsn will continue supporting NGOs responding to this (underfunded) need.

  • Develop synergies between the network's partners. For 2010, GEcsn is in contact with NGOs who will provide training to network members in how to work with disabled kids.

  • Linking local NGOs with Western partners such as schools for the disabled people in Europe and volunteers with specialized skills.

  • Support small scale projects and partners in Laos and Myanmar providing services for disabled children.

2. Trafficking.

The business of human traffickers remains a major hazard for many vulnerable children. GEcsn and its members continues to fight the problem at its roots in both Cambodia and neighboring countries.

  • Provide Vocational Training and Home Based Production to trafficked youth and mothers. This should enable them to recover fork their poor situation once returned to Cambodia and prevent their trafficking again to Thailand.

  • Support local NGOs in Laos and Myanmar aimed at preventing the human trafficking of children and vulnerable people to Thailand.

3. Expanding the network.

GEcsn is actively searching for small local NGOs in South East Asia who could benefit from becoming part of the network. The new partners get access to GEcsn's services (quality assurance, networking with Western partners, technical support,  financial support, etc.), and the network benefits from the NGO's unique local knowledge and expertise.

4. Vocational trainings.

GEcsn is exploring new ways to provide Cambodian young people with honest means to earn a living. We are currently supporting professional trainings in barber, moto repair, carpentry, traditional music band, circus, tailor as well as Home Based Projects for extrame poor families victims of Human Trafficking.
