Damnok Toek (DT), a Cambodian NGO active since since 1997 in supporting vulnerable and exploited children and their families in three different locations (Poipet, Neak LoeungandPhnom Penh) takes care of more than 1500 children per day with the support of up to 100 employees and three technical advisors.
It has been created by the Goutte d'eau Foundation and since then supports part of their projects financially and on quality management.
Objectives
Prevention of child-abuse, substance abuse and child trafficking (internal and cross-border trafficking)
Rehabilitation of under age substance abusers and traumatized children
Integration of neglected children and street-children into Khmer society through informal education (Day-Care Center and vocational training) and formal education (Public School)
Reintegration of trafficked and runaway children into their culture, their villages and, if possible, their families of origin
Facts
Damnok Toek (DT) runs three centers in two different provinces:
100 members of staff care for approximately 1500 children daily
More than 160 children live in DT-Centers
Approx. 500 children attend a DT schools daily
Approx.100 children complete DT training
Cambodian doctors treat approx. 100 children a day in three DT clinics
DT brings about 50 children a month back to Cambodia from prisons in Thailand working in cooperation with other organizations. These are children who have been sold by their families to child traffickers. They are reintegrated into Cambodian society and if possible also back into their own families.
